  1. Is there anything in particular that stood out to you from this passage?


  2. Are there any areas where you might be willing to admit you’re overly concerned on a “tradition“ that isn’t directly a Biblical command? What heart issue might this be distracting you from addressing?


  3. What is “discouraging“ about Jesus’ statement that “all that defiles us comes from within?” What hope is there for us in Jesus’ mission?


  4. Following Jesus’ reasoning here (and Matt. 12:34; Lk. 6:45; Prov. 23:7, etc) what are the heart attitudes behind some of the “outward” ways you struggle? How can we help one another keep our focus on our hearts?
