  1. What do the first couple sections of this account (baptism and temptation) teach us about the authority of Jesus? What do they say about His mission, both while He was on the earth, and what He has for the church today?


  2. What is the “Kingdom of God?” And what does Jesus mean when He says it is “at hand?” (Galatians 4:4; Isaiah 24:23) What are the implications of this truth for my life?


  3. How do the first three sections of this account establish the authority of Jesus to call these men to participate in His mission? How does this carry over into our lives? And what does it look like for us to rightly respond to these same truths?
